Job Description

The Product Design Leader will drive the strategic direction and design execution for STYL’s core products. This role is responsible not only for managing the existing design team but also for working directly with Product Management and Engineering to ensure design quality, feasibility, and alignment with business goals.

Responsibilities

  1. Leadership and Strategy:
    • Establish and communicate the Product Design Vision in alignment with STYL’s overall business strategy.
    • Provide strong Creative Direction for all visual outputs, ensuring brand consistency across Product and Marketing channels.
    • Lead the entire design process from research, conceptualization, to testing and implementation (end-to-end design process).
    • Represent Design in senior-level leadership and strategy meetings.
  2. Team Management and Talent Development:
    • Lead, mentor, and coach the existing design team, fostering a culture of high performance, accountability, and continuous improvement.
    • Conduct reviews and provide training to elevate the team’s design skills and product thinking.
    • Drive recruiting and scaling efforts for the design function.
  3. Design Execution:
    • Directly design and oversee complex projects, ensuring design solutions meet high standards for both UX (User Experience) and UI (User Interface).
    • Own the development and maintenance of the company’s Design System.
  4. Cross-functional Collaboration:
    • Work closely with Product Managers to define prioritized problems and translate them into feasible design solutions.
    • Collaborate with the Engineering team to ensure design implementation quality and technical feasibility.
    • Act as a design consultant and resource for the Marketing team, ready to support the design of key marketing materials such as brochures, leaflets, posters, and digital banners as needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in Product Design and at least 2+ years in a management or design leadership role.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating complex problem-solving abilities and clear impact on business metrics.
  • Proven ability to provide clear, actionable creative direction and effectively manage a design team’s output and performance.
  • Proficiency in modern design tools (Figma is mandatory) AND the Adobe Creative Suite, alongside a strong foundation in User-Centered Design (UCD) principles.
  • Fluent English is mandatory, both written and verbal, due to our operational base in Singapore and the requirement for daily communication with international stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to defend design decisions to stakeholders.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Experience working in high-growth companies (Startups/Scale-ups).
  • Proven experience in recruiting and building design teams.
  • Understanding of Agile/Scrum development methodologies.

Screening

Applications are shortlisted and reviewed. Suitable candidates undergo a brief phone screening to discuss their background, experiences, and career goals. This step ensures compatibility with our development orientation and culture. Screening calls typically occur 5-7 days after application submission. 

Technical Interview

Shortlisted candidates are invited for technical interviews, either in person or online. Applicants in Singapore may need to complete an Application Form before the interview. During the technical interview, candidates demonstrate their expertise, professional background, and problem-solving abilities. The interview lasts 1 to 1.5 hours. 

Culture-Fit Interview

Following the technical interview, candidates proceed to the culture-fit interview round, which focuses on alignment with our cultural values. This stage involves behavioral questions and lasts about 30 minutes. 

* Reference Check

Reference checks are conducted for security-related roles only. The team uses 1 to 3 contact details provided by the candidate, and the outcomes serve as references in the decision-making process. 

Final Decision

The team evaluates the applicant based on all information gathered. Candidates are informed of the results within 7 days after the final round, except in special cases. If not chosen, your information will be retained for 6 months for potential future opportunities. All applicants will receive a thank-you email acknowledging their interest and effort.
