Job Description

Responsibilities

We are seeking a self-driven and proactive Service Technician to join our Service team. You will play a vital role in maintaining the peak performance of our smart terminal fleet across Singapore. This is a highly dynamic position bridging the gap between IT desktop support and hands-on electronics engineering.

As a new hire, you will be onboarded via a dedicated mentorship program, pairing up with a senior teammate to quickly master our hardware and deployment ecosystem.

Responsibilities

Terminal Management & Onboarding

  • Onboarding & Configuration: Handle the initial hardware configuration, flashing of firmware, and testing of terminals before deployment.
  • Fault Calls & Troubleshooting: Act as the first line of defence for incoming terminal fault calls, diagnosing hardware breakdowns and resolving basic technical issues.
  • Deployment & Logistics: Coordinate and execute project deployment tasks, including arranging delivery, onsite installation, and terminal retrieval. 

Field & Maintenance Operations

  • Onsite Preventative Maintenance: Execute onsite hardware checks, including Real-Time Clock (RTC) battery replacements, balance station servicing, and network connectivity/signal testing.
  • Project Support: Support targeted deployment campaigns (e.g., maintaining deployment tracking sheets, managing JIRA tickets, and scheduling service windows with client venues like schools).
  • Rework & Logistics: Perform basic physical rework of PCBAs or component soldering when required, and safely transport necessary tools, parts, and ladders to sites.

Qualifications

Job Requirements

  • Educational Background: Minimum NITEC or Diploma in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience: 1+ years of experience in a similar role (Technical Support, Desktop Support, or Field Equipment Technician) is preferred. Fresh graduates with strong hands-on skills are welcome to apply.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Familiarity with computer hardware, basic networking concepts, and mobile tools/applications.
    • Hands-on experience with Windows/Linux OS environments and remote desktop applications.
    • Basic knowledge of cloud concepts is a plus.
  • Physical & Driving Requirements:
    • Possess a valid Class 3 driving license with at least 1 year of clean driving experience (preferred for site transit) is a plus.
    • Able to perform physical work, work at heights, and transport ladders/tools to job sites.
  • Soft Skills & Availability:
    • Ability to prioritize tasks based on urgency and work effectively under pressure.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and a responsible, positive learning attitude.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
    • Flexibility to work after-hours or on weekends on short notice if facility event schedules demand it.

  • Terminal Performance: Maintaining high availability and peak performance of the smart terminal fleet through proactive monitoring and rapid issue resolution.
  • Operational Efficiency: Effectiveness in managing fault calls, onsite servicing, and deployment logistics within defined timeframes.
  • Technical Quality: Ensuring high-quality standards in hardware configuration, firmware updates, and PCBA rework activities.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Accuracy and consistency in maintaining deployment tracking sheets, JIRA ticket management, and service reports.
  • Service Excellence: Demonstrating professional and responsive communication with clients and internal teams to foster continuous service improvement.

Screening

Applications are shortlisted and reviewed. Suitable candidates undergo a brief phone screening to discuss their background, experiences, and career goals. This step ensures compatibility with our development orientation and culture. Screening calls typically occur 5-7 days after application submission. 

Technical Interview

Shortlisted candidates are invited for technical interviews, either in person or online. Applicants in Singapore may need to complete an Application Form before the interview. During the technical interview, candidates demonstrate their expertise, professional background, and problem-solving abilities. The interview lasts 1 to 1.5 hours. 

Culture-Fit Interview

Following the technical interview, candidates proceed to the culture-fit interview round, which focuses on alignment with our cultural values. This stage involves behavioral questions and lasts about 30 minutes. 

* Reference Check

Reference checks are conducted for security-related roles only. The team uses 1 to 3 contact details provided by the candidate, and the outcomes serve as references in the decision-making process. 

Final Decision

The team evaluates the applicant based on all information gathered. Candidates are informed of the results within 7 days after the final round, except in special cases. If not chosen, your information will be retained for 6 months for potential future opportunities. All applicants will receive a thank-you email acknowledging their interest and effort.
